Fantasy Football - Become A Winner

Many people are uncomfortable with a win/lose orientation, and that is probably a good thing. As much as we love to compete, we are also a civilized people. Some of us feel funny somehow beating the hell out of someone, even if it is on an imaginary plane. Some of you out there wonder if you really want to be that good at something like fantasy football where everyone loses except for you. You might wonder: will they all despise me in the end? The answer is yes, but in a fun kind of way. This is only a game. Get over it or don’t play.

The reality is that fantasy football is specifically designed around the idea of you winning and them losing (if you are successful, that is.) It is actually predicated on a win/lose mentality. You need to embrace and master this concept in order to ensure victory. In my book, The Art of Fantasy Football, I use specific strategies to utilize win/lose orientation as a weapon against your opponents. As you will see, the artillery at your disposal (the name of your team, the smack talk, your avatars, your roster, your use of alliances, manipulation of information and so on) must all be deployed in the spirit of beating your opponents to death, again and again, on a virtual playground in the spirit of play.

Fantasy football — dominating, dynasty building fantasy football – is all about win/lose orientation. You avoid being a loser. Your only goal is being a winner. And your goal at all times, at every stage of the game, at the center of every action you perform is you winning and everyone else losing. That is mastering fantasy football.

So as I progress into the specific strategies outlined in my book book, I note that your should never lose sight of the fact that while this is a communal game we share in a social way in the spirit of friendship or whatever you want to call it, at the end of the day if you want to become a master at fantasy football you will not only need to learn to accept the win/lose model, but like a Michael Jordan or Darth Vader or Tiger Woods, you must learn how to utilize its inherent power.

A quick remedie for an epicondylitis lateralis is in your reach

Further, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 921 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the first 4 days.

Next 6 years, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer. Indeed, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 5 weeks in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable. The diameter of the contact area was 660 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 543 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. Therefore, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with painful tennisarm. The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. For 6 months gain settings were standardized and kept constant. Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 3 minutes. Results are presented as mean. Nevertheless, there were no significant differences after 5 hours.

However, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 7 months.

B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on seven patients with unilateral annoying tennisarm. Annoying tennisarm, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. The inflammation of the unilateral tennisarm, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. All PPT measurements were conducted 33 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated. A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.

The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas. Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 550 to 82. Indeed, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the gone 7 hours.

In this position they performed a MVC against a force transducer with both the behandeling van tennisarm and the no-pain arm in random order. Further, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 8 days.

However, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform.

I have had the opportunity to work with professional football players, golfers, high school athletes, college swimmers, basketball players, soccer and baseball stars, skiers, gymnasts and weekend warriors in all types of sports to improve their game. Sports and hypnosis / mind techniques go hand in hand and the most successful athletes practice the mind of sport routinely.

Increasing Vertical Leap With These Simple Tips

Here are some simple exercises and tips for increasing your vertical leap. It is NOT a complete program for athletes. Even those athletes who need great jumping ability will have to engage in conditioning, sport specific skill training, speed training and even other exercises in the weight room.

These tips help you to increase your vertical jump, but if you are an athlete, don't fall into the trap of believing that this program is the only one you need! Some simple useful exercises to improve jumping:

Mini hops: jump a little off the ground, over and over without hopping. Jump rope for its excellent cardiovascular conditioning. This step should never be skipped, as it will be an important contributor to your results.

Squats - these help to stretch and strengthen at the same time.

Calf raises - these are a major work out. They don't seem too hard, but if done thoroughly, they can make you unable to walk for a hour or two.

Walk or run on tip toes for 20 minutes, then backwards for 3 minutes.

Stand in 1 spot on tip toes for 2 minutes.

Start stretching at least 3 times a day, working mostly on the hamstrings, quads, hip-flexors and glutes and calves.

Sprint. This builds muscle, which will add to your jumping ability.

Some other useful tips are:

Begin every workout by warming up your muscles and then doing extensive leg stretches. Because you'll be building muscle fibers that are used for explosive activities such as jumping, stretching is of the utmost importance.

Rest your legs at least two days a week. Results will come from sustaining the exercise program, not performing it aggressively for a few weeks and then slacking off. Muscles require atleast 48 hours of rest to rebuild broken down muscle fibers after long workouts. You'll notice that your calf muscles will get bigger on the days that you rest! Without proper rest, muscles will become immune to your physical routine, and may not increase in mass or strength.

Coaching Football Wide Receivers to Score

Teach Your Football Wide Receivers to Get Open and Score Points In Bunches

Your passing game starts with the ability of your football wide receivers to get separation from their defenders. It doesn't matter if you have the greatest quarterback in the world if his receivers can't give him a window to throw to.

The first step is to teach your wide receivers how to get off the line. If the defenders are pressing and bumping at the line, the receiver must know how to beat the pressure. Begin by teaching fakes. The most basic is the "head bob". This is where the football wide receiver moves his head to one side while getting his body moving straight or to the other side. A good shoulder fake can spice this move up.

Since defensive backs will eventually pick up on a repeated fake, teach your receivers to mix things up with double-fakes (fake one way, then the other, then move beyond the defensive back).

Football wide receivers must also be taught how to use their hands to gain separation. Teach the "rip" and "swim" techniques. If cutting left, teach them to use the right arm to "rip" up through the cornerback's arms. For the "swim"
technique, teach your wide receivers to bring the inside arm up and over the corner's arms to knock the arms downward.

Once off the line, good route running is obviously an important skill to develop. One way to help your football wide receivers get open is to have them run hard to a specific spot, get control (possibly use a fake here) and make the cut. Plant the foot away from the direction of the cut, make the cut and then
accelerate into the cut. Teach your players the importance of getting the defensive back moving backwards and then cutting away from them.

Besides the straight line charge, you can also have your football receivers use an S-shape weave to get open. Have them run quickly at the defensive back to get close, then "curve" around him to gain separation.

Against man-to-man coverage, learning the art of good cuts and making those cuts at the right time will be extremely important to the success of your wide receivers. Against zone coverage, it's a bit different. Since the defensive backs are defending an area, the football receivers won't need to use their fakes quite as much since they just need to find the holes in the zone.

One often over-looked area where you can give your players an advantage is in your scouting of the opposition. Don't underestimate the importance of exploiting how your players match up to the other guys. Figure out how you can game-plan how to get your best or fastest receiver matched up against the opposition's weakest or slowest defensive back.

Teach your football wide receivers the correct fundamentals for getting open, game-plan your match ups effectively, then sit back and feel the satisfaction of watching a beautifully executed big play win the game for your players.

Youth football drills will improve the skills of your football team. If you are the coach of a young team of eager football players, the following youth football skills will help you move the team forward into both comprehension of the stances of the on field playing game and the repetitive skills it takes to be a dedicated professional player. Youth football drills should be informative and fun, so you can keep the team players interested while they learn.

Youth Football Drills All Begin With Ready Stance:

The Ready Stance drill teaches one of the proper “ready” football stances. Line up your team into lines and shout “ready”… “stance”. Walk up and down the lines as the players crouch into their stances. Correct any players that are not in the correct position. This is one of the most important, basic football skills needed.

Quick Hit Drill:

The Quick Hit drill helps team members, such as the blocking backs and linemen, in quickly moving from the Ready Stance into a blocking position. Youth football drills, such as this one, are basic to the game. The players will make a circle and stand in their Ready Stance. On your command, the players will pop into a pass protection position, take a quick step with the outside foot, and assume the squat position ready to strike a blow. Repeat these youth football drills as needed.

Youth Football Drills With Receiver Concentration:

Youth football drills, such as this one, should ensure the receiver can get the ball, hone in on the ball, and pat attention watching the ball throughout its flight until it lands clutched in his hands. Getting hit is not a factor in this drill. Take three players holding hand shields and line them up ten yards deep, three yards apart from one another in a triangle formation. Your receiver will run a pattern specified by you, which will land him in the middle of the triangle. Once the receiver enters the triangle, your quarterback will throw a high pass that will make the receiver jump to make the catch. As the receiver touches the ball with his hands, the three players in the triangle will jam the receiver with their respective shields.

Youth Football Drills Teach Good Balance:

Good balance is important to all sports, but especially to all youth football drills. For a Good balance drill, have your team players line up across from one another on the field. Have each player grab the shoulder pads of the player situated directly in opposite from them. Each player should take turns trying to knock his “opponent” off balance. He will do this by pulling, pushing, and tipping his opponent from side to side. The opponent will get down into a low base, and move his feet around to maintain balance.

There are many youth drills for football players. Each one is meant to help youth teams learn fundamentals of the game, as well as learn the importance of playing as a team unit. By improving your team in practice, you will be giving them opportunity to overcome any obstacles on the field.

Youth Football Coaching Lessons Learned From A Poor Youth Baseball Coach

Youth Football coaches can learn lessons from good and poor coaches in every sport.

This Spring I finally had enough time to let my oldest play baseball again after a 3 year absence. I could only coach part time because of the Football Clinics I do and other obligations, so without any research we joined the local “B” team that plays about a 16 game schedule. The coach has been in the organization for 5-6 years and is known locally as a “baseball” person. I agreed to be the part-time “hitting” coach.

I knew there was a problem at the first practice, as the kids warmed up “coach” was providing zero instruction. The first “drill” at the first practice was lining all 14 players up at third base to take grounders. Never mind that the kids had yet to be instructed how to get into a proper stance, how to approach a grounder, proper glove placement or proper throwing mechanics. This age 10-12 group had 4 players that had never played mind you, they were green rookies. “Coach” went straight from hitting grounders to putting players in positions and hitting infield.

As you may have guessed this was not his only fault, his batting practice would have consisted of 1 player batting and 13 shagging balls. His organizational skills, practice flow and teaching skills are poor and poor is being far too kind. No player was being held accountable to any type of standard because no standard was set.

As a first time assistant with this team, I bit my lip and followed along. The first game saw not one of the players got into a proper stance, no one hustled out to the field, players played out of position, players questioned balls and strikes and the first baseman
(coaches son) made 4 errors because of poor basic fundamental catching skills. The game was a total disaster, the team lost 22-2. Coach blamed it on the other team having all “6th graders”, typical of how "blamers" try and deflect attention from their poor coaching skills.

I blame myself for this quandry, I should have gone out and watched this team practice last year or at least asked the coach about his practice philosphhies. Had I ever attended one of his practices, it would have been obvious in the first 5 minutes, that his teams are poorly coached and not a good choice for us. While I do not claim to be an expert baseball coach, I head coached baseball in Omaha for 3 years before we moved, that Omaha league is considered by most to be the best Little League in the State and often has State Championship teams. By following to a “T” what Coach Olsen put together in his baseball coaching clinics, studying a few youth baseball coaching books and tapes and studying how the best teams in the area practiced, my teams didn’t lose a game in the 3 years I coached.

My guess is there are well meaning guys just like this coaching youth football in a similar fashion. The movements are not broken down and taught properly, the kids are rushed into playing before the basics are perfected, and time is being wasted. In baseball, my teams did lots of base drills without gloves or balls to perfect basic movements before we ever put the gloves on or took a live ground ball. We did lots of “gator” to bucket drills before we ever added the throw to the drill. Before we added the throw we worked “fit and freeze” drills to perfect the proper throwing mechanics. This “baseball” twilight zone we landed on has done none of that.

I graciously shared my baseball coaching DVDs with “coach” before the season started and he claimed to be appreciative and watched them. Well he either didn’t watch them or someone dubbed in a Bad News Bears movie on my DVDs because not one concept from the DVDs has been used.

I’m not going to create a stir with this coach, it’s my fault for not doing the research. Either do the research or head coach the team will be the lesson I learned from this wasted season.

I’ve coached youth sports for 15 years and heard lots of horror stories of poor youth coaching, but never seen it up this close. I feel for the guys stuck in those spots. Now I can say I’ve walked a little in your shoes and it feels like I have a sand burr in one shoe and a sharp pebble in the other.

I might add that this is not the talk of a disgruntled parent, "Coach" had my son as an infielder when he is probably the 10th best fielder on the team. My son is a very smart and coachable kid, but is no infielder. I suggested to "coach" to have my son play in the outfield and not to start, as I felt he was not one of the best 9 players.
