What is a Custom Hybrid Golf Club?

by Paul Easton

If you play a lot of golf, it's a good idea to play with clubs that have been designed just for you. Golfers come in all sizes and the have variations on swing. Having a specialist design golf clubs that are based on your skills and your swing will improve your score on the golf course.

Hybrid golf clubs are one such tool. A definition from Wikipedia:

"The name "hybrid" comes from genetics to denote a mixture of two different species with desirable characteristics of both, and the term here has been generalized; a hybrid club combines the advantages of an iron and a wood."

Custom Hybrid golf clubs can be beneficial to some golfers who a different size than the average golfer. If you use normal golf clubs that were designed for people that are not similar to your height you will have to make major adjustment to your swing and this will not help your game.

A lot of golfers realize the benefits of having custom golf clubs but now it's popular to have custom hybrid golf clubs, that provides the benefits of both woods and irons.

Winning Professional Golfers see the benefits

The hybrid golf clubs are being utilized by touring pro golfers. They have been reviewed by most golf magazines as well as by experts of the game. The custom hybrid golf club is simply a combination of a wood and the iron- allow the good point from each to be easily used.

They have been designed in order to allow the golfer to hit the ball into the air for longer shots as well as from difficult ball positions. They are great for the professional and the amateur who wants to improve.

When the hybrid golf clubs first came out, the weekend golfer was having a difficult time using the clubs. They were not very popular but the big manufactures made some adjustments to the design of the clubs and they are easier to use and have become quite popular with golfers.

Hybrid Club Benefits

The effectiveness of the custom hybrid golf club is due to its lower center of gravity for the club. This would be hard to do with a basic iron. This type of design makes it easier for the golfer to get the golf ball very high in the air.

The typical custom hybrid gold club has a flat face area and the club is made with a launch angle that is steeper. This type of design provides the golf ball with a faster spin rate which makes it easier to stop the ball quicker with increased accuracy.

Differences between the normal and Hybrids. The wooden heads of the custom hybrids tend to be smaller while the irons, in exact contrast, tend to be thicker and stronger.

Custom hybrid clubs are growing in popularity because they are designed to be easier to hit for weekend golfers. They provide the golfer with more distance as well as a higher level of accuracy.

Most touring pros now have access to hybrid versions. If you want to improve your golf game consider purchasing some custom hybrid golf clubs.

Black Rock Golf Club: A view and a challenge

by Paul Easton

Finding the right course to consider your own home golf course, can be a matter of finding the right one closest to home, playing on it on a regular basis. However, even the poorest golfers will tire of playing the same course over and over and after a few trips down the same fairway. However, may find they play better when they hit a different course on occasion, and the Black Rock golf club is such a course.

About Black Rock

With a slope rating of 121 from the white tees and 124 from the blue, the multiple tees at every tee box makes the course challenging.

Each hole

The 18 holes course cuts through the Shenandoah Valley for the front nine. Then through the Appalachian Mountains on the back nine, creating a scenic view of western Maryland. Not many courses can boost a difference in areas to play on.

All about the fairways

Each fairway is carved into the land and the club offers an amazingly large practice green. They also boast a chipping area and sand trap for more practice before hitting the first tee. Bent grass of each green offers straight putting chances and will grab a lifted ball onto the green and hold it for the first putt.

The first hole, a Par 5 of 465 yards, all the way the white tee of the 18th hole at 386 yards, each hole offers a fantastic nature view

Water Hazards

Water hazards come into play on four holes, beginning with number four. It may appear easy but any ball that sails over the green will end up on the bottom of a lake.

Hole number 8 has a small lake around the green. This 396 yard par 4 hole and on hole 13, a double dog leg to the right has water on the left side of the front of the green. This is also guarded by a trio of sand traps.

The final hole is a straight run to end the round. The 386 yard par four has water immediately in front of the green. The second shot will need to sail over the water or lay up and use a wedge to place the ball on the green for a good finish. Those who miss this shot may find themselves swimming.

The Black Rock Golf Club is a course not for the faint of heart, it is designed to make the player strive for the best and hopefully stay dry in the process. Not a beginners course as the views may be too much of a distraction.

Golf Injuries Can Ruin Your Planned Weekend

by Bart R

My wife is a goddess, as was proof this past week when it comes to golf injuries. I am thankful for having such a great girl. You see my college buddies and I who have keep in touch over the years planned a golfing get away. We had planned this golfing get together for the past year. Then it happened my golfing back started to act up putting some doubt on the trip. We all had looked forward to this weekend of playing golf, shooting the breeze and yes perhaps a little side betting on our golfing.

Believe it or not, my wife encouraged the trip… (hmmm.. wonder why she wanted me out of town?) and showed me how to get my back into proper shape. She's a dancer and only watches golf when she walks through the living room and Tiger Woods is playing.

Here are the Top Ten golf injuries. Starting with golfers elbow, knee pain, trigger finger, ecu tendon subluxation, bad back, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, DeQuervain's Tendinitis, wrist impaction and fracture of the Hamate Bone.

During my college days I had dreams of playing on the PGA circuit while playing on the golf team. It seems that I was better suited for business than playing golf in the same league as the professionals. It's funny how when you are twenty you don't sustain any golf injuries compared to being over forty.

When I turned thirty, I could feel my back begin to strain when I used my driver, and now nearing forty, if I don't do a proper warm up, I'm asking for back troubles. So guys, take the following advice from my wife and maybe I'll see you at Cochise golf course some weekend.

"Honey"… this is how my wife talks when she wants me to pay attention. "Whether you're playing golf or dancing, you need to pay attention to core strength, stability and flexibility." Since she was wearing alluring leotards, I could only sit spellbound and listen. "You need to do strength training to tighten up your abs (could that be hint?) since all your power comes from your center" (she motioned to her stomach, then did an imaginary golf swing) showing me how my abdominals effect my back and hips. Hmmm… maybe she was onto something. "And", she continued, now on flow, "you have to stretch before you play, the better your strength and flexibility, the better you'll feel during and after the game". I couldn't argue with her, and especially not when she smiled, that's the gleam that caught my eyes years ago. So I took my wife's advice, although she doesn't know a divot from a shank and heaven forbid if I mention a foursome. But keeping a body in shape was her specialty I began to implement her advice, into my daily gold regimen; strengthening my midsection, stretching before tee time, trying (in general) to live healthier. Believe it or not, it not only helped my golf game, but my overall outlook, I could drive longer and straighter and playing eighteen holes didn't wear me out.

Now my buddies from college are envious, of my golf game, my "drop dead gorgeous" wife and of course my core strength (though they'd never admit to that one). Golf injuries can be a thing of the past, stay in shape stretch before tee time, and give a listen to what the little lady has to say.

Golf Training Or Golf Lessons Are Great Christmas Gifts.

A few years ago my brother gave a the oddest gift: Golf Trainer . Having never played the game of golf before in my life, I had no idea why I would need Golf tips or Golf Trainer, but I nodded, smiled, and thanked my brother. Then he mimed taking a golf swing with his hands and told me to let him know how the Golf Tips went. The reason I was so unbelievably clueless as to why my brother gave me that gift is because I don’t own anything even remotely close to golf clubs or any golf gear , so I quickly forgot about the Golf Tips until this past spring.
One day this spring I actually found myself at a Golf Tips meeting up with a Golf Trainer and heading out onto the green to play some holes. Where did this sudden change of heart come from, you might be considering? Did I drive by and see a Golf Trainer giving a Golf Demo so amazing that I had to go into the golf course and put that Christmas gift to use? Did I feel remorse for not using it because who gets the chance for free Golf Tips and never having bothered since my brother would have appreciated to have received golf lessons personally ? Or did I have a dream about golfing and wake up with the desire to get some Golf Trainer? Considering it was free Golf Trainer.
In fact , it wasn’t for any of those reasons. I did like my Golf Trainer a lot, notwithstanding what happened we went out for a drink a couple times afterwards. No, I went to Golf Tips because I met a girl who loved golf and I sort of lied to her about being a professional golfer once but taking time off because I broke my wrist . I inveterate to form and, like my brother, mimed a Golf swing like only an idiot would do .
So I used what little money was left on my credit card to purchase some clubs, gloves, a plaid hat , and a couple other Golf Demo like sunglasses and a bottle of iced tea to drink. The next morning was clear and full of sun so I drove over to the Golf Tips, handed in my certificate, and met Bob , a Golf Trainer. He gave me a few introductory Golf Trainer like showing me the correct form for a Golf Demo, the proper way to grip the club, etc. After we began I brought my wrath to the golf course . I kept whiffing on my Golf Demo and beating my club against the grass , tossing up clumps of it.
Every now and then , the golf club flew out of my hands and began flying ahead of me and crashed into a tree or crashed into a pond. Once I accidentally knocked a young caddy in the back of the head. Though shaken up, he was fine. He even laughed about it later at the clubhouse where I bought him a beer . We quickly got to talking about golf and he broke down and told me he never received any Golf Tips whatsoever . He just worked as a caddy at the Golf Tips to raise money to buy a car.
But after that sorry excuse for Golf Trainer, I never went back. I made up a sorry excuse to the girl that my wrist was acting up again and my doctor forbade me from playing golf. Now I just have to find some trophies I can engrave my name onto and claim I won them in golf tournaments.
