Discovering The Secret To Swinging A Golf Club Correctly
Out of all the online golf tips that are available today there can be few that are as useful as those that can teach you how to swing a golf club.
Without any question the most crucial element of any golf swing is the downswing during which your body uncoils itself and releases the power that has been built up during the backswing. Beginning with your hips turning, followed by your shoulders, arms and wrists, the whole movement can be likened to a whip cracking and the key is to control your movement, not to let your hands release and to turn your both your hands and your forearms over immediately before you make contact with the ball.
Rather like a door shutting, the clubface moves quickly from an open to a closed position as it nears the ball and it is crucial that you turn your hands and forearms to release the club head which will otherwise remain open, usually resulting in a sliced shot.
At the time of impact, the face of the club needs to be pointing in the direction of the target line as you close it and any failure to release the club head will usually lead to poor distance and accuracy.
To be sure that you release the club head at just the right moment you will have to pay close attention to your grip which had got to be light but firm during the whole swing. Too much tension coming from your arms and hands will undoubtedly result in a poor shot.
Next, make sure that your swing has a fair speed and don't try to swing too quickly. Most beginners try to swing so quickly and so hard that they cannot escape leaving the face of the club open at the point of impact with the ball.
Lastly, for a right-handed golfer, focus on keeping the back of your left hand pointing directly down the target line at the point of impact with the ball.
To ensure that you get the impact right you will need to ensure that your right forearm (for right-handed golfers) is turning over your left forearm during impact. This can be difficult for the beginner and you should try to practice this by swinging in slow motion. You don't need to pay for any fancy golfing lessons but just practice the whole swing sequence in slow motion and pay close attention to the movement of your forearms. At the moment of impact make a conscious effort to turn your right forearm over your left forearm.
While continuing to practice in slow motion, totally freeze your whole body at the point of impact and check the position of the face of your club. It will be square, open, or closed and your objective is to make sure that it is square to your target line.
